My Roof Is Leaking Again

It's the rainy season and my roof is leaking again. Yesterday, I had to take a video so that I can show the contractor that his previous work has not made any difference to my leaking roof. I'm not sure what he will think of it though. Previously after he fixed it, the rainy season coincidentally ended and it was sunny days. So we had not chance to really test it out.

However, its raining daily now and we're back to the drip drip drip situation. Fortunately the leaking roof is in the bathroom where it's meant to be wet anyway. Otherwise I would have to call the contractor in ASAP!

That is one of the problems of buying a used second hand home. You never know what sort of problem awaits you, roofing problems, termite problems and more. This is the 3rd or 4th contractor we've called in for our roofing patch up jobs and so far none of them has been successful.

It's not easy to find a good roofing ottawa company. One tip I'd like to share with housebuyers buying second hand homes. Always look up to check for water stains when viewing the house. It will save you a lot of headache later on.

  1. You don’t have to wait for the rainy season. You could use the water hose to simulate rain and have someone check it out for you. Since you had your roof fixed before, it’s probably a wrongly placed shingle. It’s relatively easy to fix if you have roof cement, but if you want a quick fix, using epoxy clay is ideal until you manage to get a repairman to fix your roof. Don’t you think so?

  2. Roof leaks are one of a homeowner's ordeals, especially when the rainy season approaches. You should take advantage of the sunny weather to check and fix all the exterior components of your house. This way, you wouldn't have to worry about leaks during the rainy days. :)

  3. Hey there! Keep it up! This is a good read. I will be looking forward to visit your page again and for your other posts as well. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about roofer in your area. I am glad to stop by your site and know more about roofer.
The state of California has a particular licensing process for roofers. To get a state license and become a licensed roofing contractor in California, one needs to obtain a C-39 license before contracting any roofing jobs over the amount of $500.00. If the work is performed without a license, the homeowner may be stuck with unsatisfactory results and have no way to get assistance to correct the problems. If a licensed roofing contractor has problems that relate to unfinished work or the work is faulty in any way, the homeowner or property owner can at least file a claim against the roofing contractor's performance bond for the cost of repairs, damages or unfinished work that must be still be completed. Obtaining a bond is a prerequisite before any license will be issued and it must be in good standing and renewed every two years or the contractor's license could be revoked.

  4. You have a good point there, Mumsgather! Checking for water stains before buying a second-hand house will save you all the trouble of repairing and replacing. However, if you have already bought the house, it would be better to call a professional roofer to take care of the damage.
