Discover Everyone’s Potential via Dolphiner Therapeutic Art

What is Therapeutic Art?
To answer that, let us look at some charts and questions.

Below is a chart for a day in the life of a Malaysian preschooler and primary school student during a weekday.

Currently, the majority of families are a dual-income household (Resources: Asian Social Science; Vol. 9, No. 6; 2013 ISSN 1911-2017 E-ISSN 1911-2025 Published by Canadian Center of Science and Education

After school, most children are sent straight to a daycare center during the weekday while waiting for their parents to return home from work. In the chart, we can see that children spend 11 hours away from their parents.

Question 1:

Do children acquire enough ability to cope in their daily life during these 11 hours without parents when they face stress in learning, challenges in their social life or when they are bullied?

The government educational blueprint request students to equip themselves with the specific skills and attributes as shown below (Preliminary Report Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025 Pg 30-Pg 31).

1.   Knowledge
2.   Thinking skill
3.   Leadership skills
4.   Bilingual proficiency
5.   Ethics and Spiritually

The school focuses on written examinations to enhance students’ knowledge, thinking skills and bilingual proficiency (Preliminary Report Malaysia Education Blueprint 2013-2025 Pg 103).

Question 2

How do children fulfill leadership skills, ethics and spiritual aspects to prepare them to rise to the challenges they will inevitably face in adult life? Increasingly being able to lead and work effectively with others is critical in our interconnected world.

Dolphiner Therapeutic art is a psychology based enrichment program that aims to support these social issues and hope to make a positive contribution.

What Can Dolphiner Therapeutic Art Do for You and Your Child
  •   Reveal children’s strength to perform and face challenges when parents are not around.
  •  Explore sweet family memories instead of managing the children
  •  Cultivate children’s initiative to take care of their personal hygiene, emotions and belongings

Therapeutic Art is….
  • Taught by a licensed therapy practitioner
  • Taught in a confidential setting
  • Focus on building up a person’s confidence and other life skills to face unknown life challenges
  • A program designed based on psychological framework
  • Non-technical. Focus on connecting inner-self with art materials during the art making process and not on the final outcome

In other words Dolphiner Therapeutic Art gives a child/teenager/adult a space to express their indescribable hidden emotions through drawing. It helps people to communicate what he or she sometimes find difficult to put into words through their drawing, painting and other artwork. People are able to build their confidence, understanding of self and enhance a variety of social skills during the art making process.
